Overview
Welcome to AVP Fantasy Volleyball, a free game where you get a chance to become the general manager of your own team comprised of professional volleyball players
The object of the game is to score as many points as possible by assembling a team of AVP players. Managers start out with a budget of 30 million dollars to use in assembling their team. The roster consists of 8 starting slots and is broken down by gender (4 male starting slots, 4 female starting slots).
Length of Season
The season will begin with the Riverside Open on Friday, April 17 and will run through the end of the 2009 AVP Crocs Tour Las Vegas on Saturday, September 19.
Setting your Roster
To choose or edit your team, go to your Team page. To add a player, select the 'buy' button under the 'Action' column on your roster. To drop a player from your roster, select the 'sell' button that will appear next to the player's name.
You can also go directly to the 'Players' tab to purchase players for your team. Just remember that you cannot spend more than your initial $30M starting budget so if a player's 'Buy' button is grayed out it means that you cannot afford that player and need to sell the appropriate amount of players in order to afford him or her.
Deadlines
The deadline to make changes to your team for the upcoming tournament is 10 minutes before the start of the tournament. If you don't make any changes by this deadline, your team remains the same for the next tournament.
You can create a new team when the current week's tournament has begun, but you don't receive fantasy points for it and will receive points for the next tournament on the schedule.
Scoring
You receive the total points earned by all active players on your team for the given tournament.
The stats used are: Aces per game, Blocks per game, Digs per game, and Hitting % for the tournament. Each stat is multiplied by a certain weight based on which gender the player is. The breakdown can be seen here:
Men
| Stat | Weight |
|---|---|
| Aces/G | 30 |
| Digs/G | 3.6 |
| Blocks/G | 15.3 |
| Hitting % | 29.2 |
Women
| Stat | Weight |
|---|---|
| Aces/G | 23.7 |
| Digs/G | 2.6 |
| Blocks/G | 26.6 |
| Hitting % | 30 |
Here is an example of how a male player's total points for a given tournament would be awarded based on his final stats:
1.5 Aces/G -> (1.5 * 30) = 45.0 points
4.0 Digs/G -> (4.0 * 3.6) = 14.4 points
2.0 Blocks/G -> (2.0 * 15.3) = 30.6 points
.400 Hitting % -> (.400 * 29.2) = 11.7 points
By adding up the players points received for each stat (45.0 + 14.4 + 30.6 + 11.7) we would get his total fantasy points for the tournament: 101.7
Player Pricing
The initial player prices are based off on their average fantasy points output in 2008. The prices are based on an 8-person league with a $30M budget. With a roster size of 8 (4 males, 4 females for each team) there would be a total of 64 players drafted (32 males, 32 females). This means that any player that falls outside of the top 32 for each gender will be priced at the minimum of $0.3M.
Player prices will adjust throughout the 2009 season based on how that player performs compared to the rest of his or her gender as determined by: Aces/G, Digs/G, Blocks/G, Hitting %. As a result, the highest scoring players will have the highest price and be the ones that can contribute to all four of these categories.

FAQ
-
How are player prices determined and what causes them to change?A: Prices at the beginning of the year are based on how well each player preformed last year. Prices will then change after each tournament for each player depending on how well they do in that tournament.
-
Do I have to have a player in all 8 of my roster slots to score points?A: No, it is entirely up to you. You may spend your budget on 7 players, 6 players, or fewer if you'd like. The only restriction is that you can't have more than 4 Men or 4 Women on your team.
-
How come when I sell a player I don't get their current price added back into my available cap?A: The AVP Fantasy Volleyball game is a hard-cap salary game. This means that when you purchase a player, his or her dollar value may go up or down over time, but when you sell a player you will always get the price that you purchased the player with added back into your available cap. You will never be able to spend more than your Available Cap of $30M.
